HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-05-02-SEPAC-min Lexington Special Education Parent Advisory Council(SEPAC) Lexington Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) Business Meeting Minutes May 2,2017 Attendees Jennifer Yaar, Kathy Cunningham, Robin Abrams, Lisa O'Brien, Bettina McGimsey, Mona Roy, Nicole Diggins Locher Location Lexington Community Center, Room 237 Call to order 9.04 am Adjourned 10 35 am Approvals • Minutes from 3/7/16 Business Meeting were unanimously approved Reports of Officers • Treasurer Report o Our balance at the end of April was $4,952 00, including $600 in proceeds from Battlegreen Run contributions • Membership report there are currently 102 SEPAC/SEPTA members Other Business • Bettina McGimsey reported on the Dyslexia Subcommittee events Neuroscientist Nadine Gaab presented on 5/1 regarding the importance of ongoing intervention of dyslexia In the upcoming year, the subcommittee may plan for a parent panel (parent with a dyslexia diagnosis) Team will follow up with Ellen Sugita about distributing the LLP Audit Executive Summary • Barbara White has requested information from Ellen Sugita regarding definitions of the ILP1, ILP2, and ILP3 at LHS • Ellen Sugita will be following up with the team about the graduation requirements for ILP students • Team working to recruit Membership Coordinator, Community Outreach, and Web Site Manager for 2017-2018 school year • Team agreed to add identification of LexSEPTA and LexSEPAC in messages advertising events and membership • Team discussed new outreach mediums for increasing membership • Upcoming year speaker ideas were discussed Social/Emotional Supports for SPED students, Dyscalculia, Nonverbal Learning • Nominating committee was approved Jennifer Yaar, Mona Roy, and Kathy Cunningham
