HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009.09.21 BOS-ES-min- Released ES6-396 EXECUTIVE SESSION September 21, 2009 PRESENT: Chairman Cohen, Mrs. Krieger, Mr. Kelley, Mr. Manz and Mr. Burnell; Mr. Valente, Town Manager and Ms. Pease, Executive Clerk. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 5-0 by roll call to go into executive session for a discussion of collective bargaining and the disposition of real property, with no intent to return to open session. Collective Bargaining Ms. Casey, Human Resources Director, joined the meeting. Mr. Valente explained to the Selectmen that the Fire union unexpectedly settled with the Town for FY2008 and FY2009 and the union has already voted to accept the contact. The agreement includes contract changes regarding restricted work hours, injured on duty leave and EMT conditions of employment. The Selectmen agreed to accept the new Fire union contract for FY2008 and FY2009. Mr. Valente wanted to discuss with the Selectmen a bargaining strategy that will then be discussed with the School Committeeon September 29. The Selectmen agreed that bargaining has to be based on total compensation and that the School Committee and Selectmen need to speak as one and send strong message to employees. Ms. Casey left the meeting. Cubist -Memorandum of Understanding Ms. Yanofsky, Economic Development Officer, joined the meeting. Mr. Valente discussed with the Selectmen possible options to earmark the MOU funds that would be received from Cubist.
