HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009.05.18 BOS-ES-min - Released ES6-391 EXECUTIVE SESSION May 18, 2009 PRESENT: Chairman Cohen, Mrs. Krieger, Mr. Kelley, Mr. Manz and Mr. Burnell; Mr. Valente, Town Manager, and Ms. Chabot, Assistant to the Executive Clerk. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 5-0 by roll call to go in to executive session to discuss litigation and the filing of a criminal complaint, with no intent to return to open session. Route 128 Noise Barrier Mr. Valente reported on the status of the noise barrier onRoute 128. The subcontractor walked off the job because he was not being paid. The winning bidder for the job has gone into bankruptsy. The Town is in contact with the State Highway Department. Work has now resumed. VFW Chief Corr updated the Selectmen on recent complaints regarding the VFW. He asked for clarification on liquor license regulations and for guidance on enforcement. Mr. Manz offered to write a report to be made available in the next two weeks. Newton Resident Chief Corr reported that a person of interest was approached by the Bank Robbery Task Force and fled. A chase ensued which ended on Reed Street. Lexington Police Officers and State Police arrived. The man waved a handgun and was instructed several times to drop his weapon. When the man pointed his firearm at officers, they feared for their safety and the safety of others. They fired their weapons striking the man twice. The man was arrested, transported to Lahey Clinic, and treated for superficial gun shot wounds.
