Greeting
In the Name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are required to
summon the the inhabitants of the town of Lexington within
the said county
(if they may be found in your precinct)
to appear before me, Joseph Cordis Esq. one of the Justices of the Peace for the
County aforesaid, at my Dwelling-House in Charlestown in said conty on Monday
the twenty fourth Day of November next at ten of the Clock in the
fore noon; then and there to answer to the inhabitants of the town of Cam-
bridge in said county in a plea of the case for that that said in-
habitants of said Lexington on the day of purchase of this
writ being indebted to the Plaintiff in the sum of three pounds & eleven
pence for the like sum of Money by the pltfs [plaintiffs] paid out and expended
for the use of said inhabitants of Lexington according to the amount
annexed at their special instance and request, they the said
Inhabitants of Lexington then & there in consideration thereof promised
the pltfs to pay them the same sum on demand yet the said
Inhabitants of Lexington though requested have never paid
said sum but neglect it
To the Damage of the said Inhabitants of Cambridge (as they say) the Sum of four Pounds
[blank], shall then and there appear, with other due Damages. Hereof fail not,
and make due Return of this Writ, and of your Doings therein, unto myself, at or before the said
twenty fourth Day of November, Dated at Charlestown aforesaid,
the twenty third Day of October, in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven
hundred and ninety four
