HomeMy WebLinkAbout283 Appraisal of a Cow by Nathan Chandler, January 9, 1804Middlesex SS To James Brown and John Mulliken Esq both of Lexington in the aforesaid County Gentlemen Greeting By virtue of the Power and Authority to me given in and by a law of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Entitled an act respecting lost goods and stray beasts I do here by appoint you to appraise upon oath at the true value thereof in Money according to your best skill and judgment a cow with an X marked on her right side long horned with the tip broke or sawed off &c that brook [broke] into the yard of Peter Howard of Lexington on the 13th of Nov 1803 - having performed this service you are to make return of this warrant into the town Clerke office of said Lexington within seven days, from the Date hereof Given under my hand and seal at Lexington this sixth day of January AD 180[missing] Nathan Chandler Town Clerk of said Lexington 6 9 1804 Middlesex SS Janr 9th 1804 The above named James Brown & John Milliken Personally appeared and made oath that they would faithfully and impartial perform the service to which they are appointed by the above warrant Before me Nathan Chandler Town Clerk Pursuant to the within warrant we have appraised the above mentioned cow at Eighteen Dollars Jno Mulliken James Brown Lexington Jan 12th 1804
