Minutes for March 2, 2018 Meeting
Present:
• Members: Fuang-Ying Huang, Tanya Gisolfi, Bonnie Brodner, Lieutenant James Barry,
Charlotte Rodgers, Mary Ant6n,
• Liaisons: Kathleen Lenihan, (School Committee) Doug Lucente (BOS), Aidan Evelyn (Police),
Pastor Brent Maracle (LICA Liaison) Stanley Yap (CAAL), Valerie Overton (LexPride), Mona
Roy (SEPAC/LEXDESI)
• Guests: Mabel Amar
Meeting called to order at 8:10 AM, Quorum was present at 8:10 AM.
Minutes from February 2, 2017 meeting were reviewed with minor amendments. Whereupon the
motion was made by Ms. Ant6n, the motion was seconded: Resolved: to approve the minutes for the
February 2, 2017 meeting with amendments.
Chair Report—Vice Chair brief outline of the agenda
LPS Student Discipline Survey—Liaison members gave a brief update on the status of the Discipline
Survey, it is still in the process of being tested.
Community Question—As the Survey was being discussed, a question was asked about town and
school hiring data, a CAAL representative questioned the hiring procedure of employees and whether
demographic data on applicants for town and school positions is kept? Further, if such data is not
available, is that because the data is not requested or collected from applicants? The group did not
know the answer to the question and the conversation was tabled for a later discussion.
Working Groups —
a) "Not In Our Town—Committee hadn't yet met.
b) Conversation on Race Toolkit—Group has meet multiple times, have reviewed the existing tool
kit and begun work to fill in the holes and expand the curriculum.
c) Human Rights Complaint/Incident Response—Nothing new to report
d) Patriots Day Parade and Lexington Discovery Day —Lt. Barry will be present at the table on
Discovery Day, request for additional support was made to the group. Members asked to
commit by next meeting.
