Minutes of Meeting Held on Thursday, October 16th, 2025
A Meeting of the Lexington Youth Commission was held on Thursday, September 4th,
2025. The meeting began at 7:00 pm in the Lexington Police Department Conference
Room.

September Meeting Minutes
Read and approved, sent to the town archives
Fall Island Clean-Up Debrief
Sarah shared that our recent Fall Island Clean-Up went very well! It was great to see
everyone interacting and working together.
When we arrived, much of the work had been done thanks to the Lexington DPW. It was a
wonderful way to kick off the year. Let's keep up the great teamwork!
Halloween Balloon Hanging I Friday, October 31, 2025 11:40 AM - 1:10 PM
Sarah discussed our collaboration with downtown merchants for the children's
Trick-or-Treating event. You will be in groups hanging balloons on downtown merchants'
doors
Meeting at the Quad, walk to Lexington Center at 11:45, return for I-Block
For those coming later, head to William Raveis Real Estate (1713 Mass Ave)
There will be pizza from Upper Crust
2 slice limit per person
Sign-outs from school:
If you have class during this time, please go through your dean to be signed
out and back in
20 members have confirmed attendance

Community Service Projects — November & December
Please mark these important dates!
Food Pantry 2000 Pound Challenge I Saturday, November 15th 12:00 - 2:00 PM @
C&W Trans (240 Bedford St)
Sofia discussed our goal of collecting and donating 2,000 pounds of food to the
Lexington Food Pantry.
Members received six Trader Joe's bags at the October meeting to distribute
to friends, neighbors, and family.
If you missed the meeting, please pick up your bags from Deb's house
by Saturday, November 1
At the event, we will have 300 bags of donations to inspect, sort, pack, and deliver
to the Lexington Food Pantry
50 members @ 6 bags each = 300
We'll need as many hands as possible - food and drinks will be provided
Thanksgiving Dinner Delivery & Cookie Bagging for Toys for Tots I Wednesday,
November 26th, 2:00 - 3:00 PM @ C&W Trans (240 Bedford St)
Two Projects Will Be Taking Place This Day:
1. Thanksgiving Dinner Delivery
Delivering full turkey dinner boxes in partnership with the Lexington Rotary
Club.
We need 6-7 drivers, each taking 2-3 helpers and 5 dinners.
Drivers must be legally able to drive with passengers. Detective Hankins and
Shannon may be checking licences!
If you can drive, please email me.
2. Cookie Bagging for Toys for Tots
Members will bag cookies for the Toys for Tots events, in collaboration with
the Lexington Police Department.
LexGiving 5K — Toys for Tots Collection I Friday, November 28th 8:30 - 10:30 AM @
Lincoln Field
The Lexington Wrestling and Track teams are hosting the 3rd Annual LexGiving 5K,
supporting Toys for Tots. The Lexington Police Department and U.S. Marine Corps
will be on-site with a military truck for toy collection. We are looking for 2-4 LYC
volunteers to help collect toys and pack a police cruiser
Depot Square Tree Lighting I Friday, November 28th 5:30 - 7:00 PM
This is one of our most festive events of the year!
Volunteers will:
- Hand out bells and candy canes
- Mingle with families
- Take photos
- Sing-along before Santa's arrival
We will meet at William Raveis Real Estate (1713 Mass Ave) to prepare for the
event. Costumes, hats, and light-up accessories will be available. Snacks and
drinks will be provided.
Toys for Tots I Saturday, December 6th 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
We will be collecting toys in front of CVS and DCU Bank, working with the
Lexington Police Department. Last year, Lexington collected more toys than any
other town in the area. Let's do it again! The LPD will provide hot drinks and
snacks.

National Survey for Youth Sports
The National Youth Sport Survey focuses on collecting firsthand insights from kids
about their sports experiences
Lexington Rec hopes to boost participation from Massachusetts this year

Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 13th, at 7:00 pm at the Lexington
Police Department Conference Room.
