• The meeting was called to order by M. Roy at 4:30 PM.
• Approval of minutes
o Postponed to next meeting.
• Welcome new member
o Kerry Dunne, History & Social Studies Department Head at LHS is joining the
Commission as the new LPS Representative.
• VO250
o Lighting of the Arch held on 9/12, lit up for 80,000 hours. Had approximately 35
groups be recognized for their contributions towards the VO250 project.
o The working group is focusing on improving youth engagement in the program.
• Riding Through History
o Horses are installed with permission from Historic Districts Commission as a
temporary installation through 2026. Interest has been expressed in keeping one
or more horses on display as permanent exhibitions. Continued display in the
Center would require HDC approval, and the Community Center has expressed
interest in housing a horse. Removal of horses would occur around July 4, 2026.
o Auction of remaining horses could fund a community-focused public art project
that would reside at the Community Center and serve as a permanent marker of
the Semiquincentennial. External expertise will most likely be needed for
organizing the auction.
o The auction and kick-off of the art project could potentially comprise an event that
takes place on Patriots' Day weekend of 2025.
• Signature Events
o B. Cunha, B. Fallick, A. Rooney, and Dawn McKenna will comprise the working
group.
• Role of JGPR Through 2026
o The Commission discussed the role of John Guilfoil Public Relations in their role
as public relations contractors for Lex250. Two proposals were reviewed, and the
Commission decided to postpone any action pending a further understanding of
the budget surrounding Patriots' Day 2026 and other upcoming Lex250 events.
• Next meeting: November 13 at 4:30 PM
• The meeting was adjourned at 6:09 PM
Respectfully Submitted,
Noah Michelson
