HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-10-09-LEX250-min Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) October 9, 2025 Meeting Minutes Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk, the Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) convened in a hybrid format in the Select Board Meeting Room at the Town Office Building and via Zoom video conference on Thursday October 9, 2025 at 4:30 PM by Chair Mona Roy as allowed by legislation (S.2475) extending the suspension of certain provisions of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. Present in person: Mona Roy, Community Representative, Chair Noah Michelson, Community Representative, Clerk Barry Cunha, Business Representative Bebe Fallick, Tourism Committee Representative Melanie Lin, Community Representative Doug Lucente, Select Board Member Ashley Rooney, Community Representative Jillian Tung, Music &Arts Representative Kerry Dunne, LPS Representative (not yet official) Present remotely: Cerise Jalelian, Town Celebrations Committee Representative Cleve Coats, Community Representative Julie O'Leary, Civic Representative Dawn McKenna, 9 Hancock Rd Absent: Steve Conners, Reenactment Community Representative Paul O'Shaughnessy, Historical Organization Representative • The meeting was called to order by M. Roy at 4:30 PM. • Approval of minutes o Postponed to next meeting. • Welcome new member o Kerry Dunne, History & Social Studies Department Head at LHS is joining the Commission as the new LPS Representative. • VO250 o Lighting of the Arch held on 9/12, lit up for 80,000 hours. Had approximately 35 groups be recognized for their contributions towards the VO250 project. o The working group is focusing on improving youth engagement in the program. • Riding Through History o Horses are installed with permission from Historic Districts Commission as a temporary installation through 2026. Interest has been expressed in keeping one or more horses on display as permanent exhibitions. Continued display in the Center would require HDC approval, and the Community Center has expressed interest in housing a horse. Removal of horses would occur around July 4, 2026. o Auction of remaining horses could fund a community-focused public art project that would reside at the Community Center and serve as a permanent marker of the Semiquincentennial. External expertise will most likely be needed for organizing the auction. o The auction and kick-off of the art project could potentially comprise an event that takes place on Patriots' Day weekend of 2025. • Signature Events o B. Cunha, B. Fallick, A. Rooney, and Dawn McKenna will comprise the working group. • Role of JGPR Through 2026 o The Commission discussed the role of John Guilfoil Public Relations in their role as public relations contractors for Lex250. Two proposals were reviewed, and the Commission decided to postpone any action pending a further understanding of the budget surrounding Patriots' Day 2026 and other upcoming Lex250 events. • Next meeting: November 13 at 4:30 PM • The meeting was adjourned at 6:09 PM Respectfully Submitted, Noah Michelson
