Meeting Attendees: Members - Lisah Rhodes, Daniel Palant, Nancy Adler, Archana Singhal, Nancy Shepard (Chair) Ex-Officio Member Attendees: Christine Dean (Community Center Director), Doug Lucente (Board of Selectman) Melissa Battite (Director of Recreation &Community Programs) Unable to attend: Charlotte Rodgers (Director of Human Services), Alessandro Alessandrini, John Zhu The meeting was called to order at 7:10pm. 1. Minutes of December 14,2017 The minutes from the December meeting were reviewed and unanimously accepted. 2. Citizens and Other Boards There were no citizens or other boards present at this meeting. 3. Community Center Director Updates • Christine Dean, Community Center (CC) Director, reported that work is being done on the Spring Program Guide. • The Open House will take place on January 20' from 10-2. There are currently 15 providers signed up with a capacity of 20. Tom Romano is doing press releases for the event. Lisah said that ELL families are invited to attend and they are hoping to provide LHS students who can translate for families. The Lexington Interfaith Clergy Association was mentioned as a possible outlet for outreach and publicity for CC programs and events. • Christine just returned from the Northern New England Recreation and Parks Conference. • Charlotte Rodgers, Director of Human Services, was unable to attend and asked Christine to report that there were no new updates for her department. 4. Community Center Expansion Update • Melissa thanked the members of the committee who attended the presentation from DtNisco Design about options at the BOS meeting on Monday night. • We discussed what was presented at the BOS meeting and what the next steps should be for our committee in terms of advocacy for the expansion. • Design documents for the expansion plan for the CC are being considered for the FY19 budget. The $250,000 for the documents would come from the Enterprise Fund. • A motion was made for the Committee to draft a letter that would be sent to the Selectmen and Town Manager to express our support for the expansion plans. It was unanimously approved. The letter will also be sent to the Recreation Committee. • Nancy will do an initial draft of the letter and send it along to committee members for comments. • We also discussed having a Friends Group for the CC and if we should be looking in other options for funding to support expansion. • Melissa reminded the Committee members that terms will be ending in May so members should be thinking about whether they would like to continue to serve. Since several meetings had to be cancelled due to a lack of a quorum, at the February meeting, we will discuss the timing for the meeting and whether the 2nd Thursday is the best time to meet. Christine will send along a Est of the proposed dates for 2018-19 meetings. The next meeting of the Community Center Program Advisory Committee will be a joint meeting with the Recreation Committee, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 7:OOpm in Room 237 of the Lexington Community Center.
