Sustainable Lexington Committee
Minutes of Meeting of February 28, 2017
A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held on February 28,
2017 at the Town Office Building. A quorum of five was present.
Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Marcia Gens, Dan Voss, Todd Rhodes, Rick
Reibstein
Members Absent: None
Other Attendees: Paul Gromer(Perrigren), Marlana Patten(Perrigren), Joe Pato
(Board of Selectmen), Lisa Fitzgibbons
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm.
Community Choice Aggregation (M. Sandeen)
• On February 27, 2017 the Board of Selectmen (BOS)unanimously agreed to
authorized Carl Valente to approve the pricing of the aggregation plan if the pricing is
at or below current levels.
• We are still waiting for approval of the plan by the Department of Public Utilities
(DPU). Discussed sending the DPU a letter to accelerate approval.
• At the BOS meeting, Suzy Barry recommended that the public education (planned for
June) be proceeded by general awareness training. Options include:
• Farmers Markets
• Discovery Day
• LexMedia interview show
• PTAs
• etc.
• Considering adding a line to the informational letter in Mandarin and Korean to tell
folks to go to a website for a fully translated letter.
Getting to Net Zero (P. Gromer)
• Presented the"Lexington Building Inventory"presentation.
Getting to Net Zero (L. Fitzgibbons)
• Phase 1 meetings: March, April, May
• Consultants (Integral and Barbara Bashaelon) review (assess inputs)
• Phase 2 meeting: Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec (develop strategy)
• Members: Mark Sandeen, Joe Pato, Lisa Fitzgibbons, Paul Lukes (Architect),
Wendell Calso (Architect on HBC), Shire (waiting), Melanie Waltren (Boston
Properties), Mike Domenico (King Street Properties), Janet Trazano (Realtor),
Melissa Titocolas, Sando Alisandrini, Jean Kreiger.

Super Emitters Pilot Study (Lisa Fitzgibbons)
• The BOS approved Lexington's participation in the pilot study to inventory gas leaks
based on size.
• Lexington may be selected to participate.
Lexington Energy Challenge (T. Rhodes)
• Invoice sent to NGrid.
• Letter signed by Carl will go out soon.
Solar (Mark Sandeen)
• Update on Hartwell project.
• Planning ribbon-cutting on Patriot's Day 4/19/2017
Quiet Communities (Rick Reibstein)
• Program to replace gas-powered lawn equipment with electric equipment.
• Rick will go back to the group to clarify the proposal
• Need to coordinate with maintenance staff
