HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-05-30-SLC-min Town of Lexington Sustainable Lexington Committee Minutes of Meeting of May 30, 2017 A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC)was held on May 30, 2017 at Cary Hall. A quorum of five was present. Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Marcia Gens, Todd Rhodes, Dan Voss Members Absent: Rick Reibstein Other Attendees: None The meeting was called to order at 7:20 pm. Solar Energy Task Force (M. Sandeen) • The Hartwell Facility is running. The upper canopy is down due to damage to power lines during the fence installation, but the canopy should be back up and running this week. • Eversource is challenging the solar metering rates used by Lexington and other towns. Community Choice Aggregation (M. Sandeen) • A letter will be going out to residents who receive Eversource Basic Service. The letter will identify three options: • Default: 100% Renewable • Option 1: Local Green 100% Renewable • Option 2: Basic Service • Option 3: Remain on Eversource Basic Service Lexington Energy Challenge (T. Rhodes) • At the end of April, we were 33% through the year and at 30% of the HEA target. • Insulation is at about 20% of the target. Sustainability Director (M. Sandeen) • The committee discussed the pros and cons of the Town establishing the role of a Sustainability Director to lead programs intended to support sustainability and to coordinate among other Town departments. Priorities for the Board of Selectmen (M. Sandeen) The Board of Selectmen has requested that committees communicate their priorities for the coming year. The committee recommended the following priorities: • Sustainable Building Policy (for Municipal building projects) • Town staff to support Sustainable Lexington initiatives. Page 1 of 1
