Osborne, Chair t1imnanri ), Fuang-Ying Huang,Vice Chair Tanya Gisolfi, Clerk Minutes for January 22, 2018 Meeting Present: • Members: Sean Osborne, Tanya Gisolfi, Lieutenant James Barry, Bonnie Brodner, Fuang-Ying Huang, Charlotte Rodgers • Liaisons: Doug Lucente (BOS) • Guests: Tony Rodriguez, Todd Burger, Margaret Heitz Meeting called to order at 8:05 AM, Quorum was present at 8:05 AM. Chair Report—There will be working group reports at the February meeting. The possibility of holding evening meetings was raised and will be discussed at a later date. LHRC needs to decide if we are going to walk in the Patriots Day Parade, a vote will likely be held at the February meeting. A new affinity group has been created in Lexington, Everywoman Everywhere, the contact is Vidya Sri. litt r)://everywconian ever�wli ere.or /contact/ A new Human Rights group, Easton Human Rights Committee, reached out requesting information about how the LHRC operates and asked to correspond. Minutes from December 1, 2017 meeting were reviewed with minor amendments. Whereupon the motion was made by Ms. Brodner, the motion was seconded: Resolved: to approve the minutes for the December 1, 2017 meeting, as amended. People Power Lexington—This meeting was called to discuss the LHRC sponsorship of People Power's community event. After much discussion by all parties involved, a motion was made by Ms. Rodgers and was duly seconded and clarified: Resolved: By a 3 to 2 vote the LHRC will not sponsor the community conversation on immigration held by People Power Lexington. Community Conversation on Immigration—This event will take place on Sunday, February 25, Temple Isaiah, 55 Lincoln St, doors open at 1:45, event from 2-3:30. Lt. Barry gave a final report regarding a human rights complaint filed against a business for reportedly refusing service based on race or country of origin. The investigation by the LPD found no evidence 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE-LEXINGTON,MASSACHUSETTS 02420 of criminal action. During the discussion with Lt. Barry, the LHRC agreed that there was no evidence that a human rights violation occurred. The LHRC voted 5-0 to close the case. The decision of the LHRC will be communicated to the complainant by Mr. Osborne. Meeting adjourned at 9:55 AM Next meeting: Friday, February 2, 2018 at 8:00 am.
