RECREATION COMMITTEE MINUTES
MARCH 13, 1996
Members Present: Don Chisholm, Paul Keane, Pam Varrin
Staff Present: Karen Simmons, Brian Gilbert
Minutes of February 28, 1996 were accepted.
RECREATION SPACE UPDATE:
Pam reported that the records indicate that the plan was updated. ADA descriptions are brief and
backup files are incomplete. We need to update the ADA evaluations. Brian can update the
playground information. Karen and Pam can work with Brian on this. There is no assessment on
the Pool, Center Playground, bike path and fitness path.
PINE MEADOWS:
Karen requested that town employees (non school department) pay the resident rate at the Golf
Course (not including leagues). After a brief discussion, the committee voted to approve this
request. Karen will develop an Employee Golf ID card.
Tee time reservation cards: Lexington residents can buy a Golf ID card at $10.00. This will allow
residents to get a two week in advance reserved tee time. Karen will speak to Bill Harrison about
enforcing this policy which was established last year.
Jim Nicoloro representing the Senior Citizens Club asked Karen to waive the fees for a golf
tournament. The tournament is to raise money for senior recreation programs. After a brief
discussion, the committee voted to deny this request. All organization will pay the fee.
The 5th green needs some seed. It was suggested to make a temporary green until the seed
takes. It will be around the corner and you can't see the green from the tee. A temporary
drawing should be made to make the hole user friendly.
A Notice of Intent hearing with the Conservation Commission for the Expansion Pond is
scheduled on March 26, 1996 at 7:30.
2
WATER FOUNTAIN:
The water fountain at Lincoln Park was damaged beyond repair. Brian suggested purchasing a
durable stainless steal unit. Karen will contact Lynn Wilson to inform her and discuss the
recommended plan. It will cost approximately $2300 to install a stainless fountain.

How much time do we need to present each Article? 5-10 minutes. Town Meeting Members
Association meeting is March 27th at 7:30 pm. Paul suggested pictures for his presentation of the
picnic area and the Bike Path. Brian and Paul will get together to take pictures. Who has the
authorization to modify the land? Who owns the Bike Path right of way? Brian will look into
these issues. Sandra Shaw is the representative from the committee to the Minuteman Bikeway
Committee.
Article 20: 5-10 minutes. Article 19: 5-10 minutes
Article 2- Enterprise Report. Don will get together with Karen to get a Funding Profile.
