Room G - 15, October 27, 1992
Those present: Don Olson l Steve Hurley,co-chairs,Jack Eddison, Selectmen liaison,
John Frey, DAC chair, Kerry Brandin, Barbara Hulshizer,Jacqueline Olson, Betsy
Whitman. Steve called the meeting to order at 8:10.
Meeting with Rick White: Steve and Kerry had met with him and brought him up to
speed. Pick felt that$5,000 in seed money might be available. Donations from the private
sector will be needed,of course.
The Meriam Street lot was discussed. Frank Field has advised Steve he would have
some engineering plans for him.A volunteer traffic expert will be needed to review the
options. Steve reported that the bank was interested in a drive up window. This has to be
on hold until the Meriam Street lot changes are explored.
Consensus was that a plan should be tested For a month.
For Test Option 1 (The"Frank Field plan") Lexpress might time a bus on a busy
Friday to see what the additional turnaround would impact. This option appeared to be
the most desirable, with the information we now have. R would be a bit more elaborate to
implement as a test.
Test Option 2( Don's"Plan K)could be tested for a month with almost no new
marlcings. There was a certain amount of flip flop as to which plan should be tried first.
Action:1) A memo describing the reasoning of the trials to be sent to Rick, Police,
Selectmen, Lexpress- Sara Arnold, Pauline Burke(now in Public Works), Frank Field,
Transportation Advisory Commitee. Steve will do this. Kerry will do research on present
and past management of Meriam Street lot.
2) Ask Lexpress when deadline for disabled access.
3) Base info from Frank.
4)Begin design, using some seed money ?
Go foritl - Concept Plan

about 10:15.
