Presentations/Reviews
Antigenics—3 Forbes Road (Signage)
Kevin Trotter, Health & Office Manager
The proposal was previously reviewed on September 8, 2003. No Antigenics representative was available
in September, and not enough information was provided. The DAC has expressed this concern in the
letter to the ZBA. Now Kevin Trotter appeared before the DAC to answer questions. The following details
were discussed:
Antigenics rents 3/of the office building at 3 Forbes Road, and is looking to occupy the whole building
when another tenant moves out. The building facade is finished with aluminum panels. Visitors come to
the building fairly frequently. They need to find the building and the main entrance at off-hours.
Flags
o 3 flags are planned on 3 flag poles 18'-20'feet high at the main entrance
o The building is completely screened by old trees from other buildings in the area and from Rt. 128.
o Proposed flags are not illuminated. They will come up and down every day.
Sign on the building
o The proposed sign is 18'4"W x 6'11"H
o Sign uses neon tubing inside, white color, each letter is lit individually
o Aluminum cutout letters are mounted 1-1/2" in front of the tubing to achieve a "halo"effect.
o A strip of glass was removed from the facade and replaced with an aluminum panel in anticipation
of putting up the sign, but the sign hasn't been installed yet.
DAC had no objections to the flagpoles as well as to the sign on the building.
DAC noticed that there are no directional signs on the site to help the visitors find the building and the
main entrance. Antigenics may ask for directional signs under a separate petition in the future.
