Marshall, Chairman DATE: February 20, 1986 Board of Selectmen FROM: Peter Chalpin, Chairma SUBJECT: Laconia Street Traffic Safety Committe At its Meeting of February 19, 1986, the Traffic Safety Committee again discussed the Laconia Street request for a lowered speed limit. Mrs. Denise Whiting attended, representing the petitioners. We have enclosed a plan showing the accepted and unaccepted portions of Laconia Street, and the accident locations and contributing factors for 1981 through 1985. There were six accidents in this five year period, and none were attributed to speed. As stated in our January 8, 1986 report, the speed limit on Laconia Street is 30 MPH under the Fundamental Speed Law. Regarding any change in that, the Town only has jurisdiction on the accepted portion of the street. With that in mind, and the fact that no accidents can be attributed to speed in the past five years, we again recommend no changes, up or down, in the current situation However, we do recommend installation of a Stop sign at Ridge Road and Laconia Street and continued monitoring of traffic by the Police Department.
