Marshall, Chairm DATE: May 3, 1985 Board of Selectmen SUBJECT: Traffic Committee FROM: Peter Chalpin, Chairman Traffic - North Hancock Traffic Safety Committe Street At its Meeting of May 1 , 1985, the Traffic Safety Committee met with Mr. MacInnes and Mr. Sullivan, Principal of the Diamond Junior High School, to discuss a request from Mr. Geoffrey Fitzgerald for traffic safety improvements at Hancock Street and North Hancock Street. Mr. Fitzgerald did not attend. First, it is unanimously recommended that Stop signs be installed on North Hancock Street at Hancock Street, and on Hamilton Road at North Hancock Street. Discussion then centered around Mr. Fitzgerald's requests for blinking School in Session signs on Hancock Street and speed bumps in the Diamond School driveway. Since the driveway is on school property, and since sixth graders will be attending the School in 1986, it is recommended that these requests be referred to the School Committee for input on peripheral issues such as crossing guards and busing. The Traffic Committee does feel that a signing arrangement, such as that implemented at the Estabrook School , would be more appropriate than blinking signs. Those in attendance: Peter M.
