Chalpin, Ch-. +i-n SUBJECT: Traffic - Whipple Hill Traffic Committee ,n /'1(j At its meeting of February 25, 1987, the Traffic Safety Committee met with Mr. Ma:: Snodderly and others concerning Traffic on Whipple Hill. As you know, this neighborhood is used as a cut-through by traffic avoiding the congestion at Lowell Street and Winchester Drive. It was requested by Mr. Snodderly that a right turn lane be added to Lowell Street, to allow traffic to move more freely onto Winchester Drive. While we feel that this modification would have limited effect, we told Mr. Snodderly that we would recommend to the Board that Mass. D.P.W (Lowell Street is a State Highway) be asked to consider the request The following are also recommended: 1 Increased enforcement of the existing 30MPH speed limit; 2. Installation of a small island on Russell Road at Whipple Road, similar to the island on Walnut Street at Concord Avenue; 3 Installation of a "Stop" sign on Whipple Road, southbound at Russell Road; 4 Installation of "Stop" signs on Locke Lane at Whipple Road, Fiske Road at Whipple Road, Fairlawn Lane at Fiske Road, Fairlawn Lane at Lowell Street, Whipple Road at Lowell Street, Fiske Road at Winchester Drive and Russell Road at Winchester Drive.
