SELECTMEN
DEC 18 1986 TOWN OF LEXINGTON
TRAFFIC SAFETY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MEMORANDUM
TO: John C. Eddison, Chairman DATE: December 12, 1986
Board of Selectmen
FROM: Peter M. Chalpin, air an SUBJECT: Traffic Safety Committee
Traffic Committee Meeting - 12/03/86
CedaT Street Traffic
At its meeting of December 3, 1986, the Traffic Safety Committee discussed the Traffic
concerns of Mr. Neal E. Chamberlain regarding Cedar Street. Mr. Chamberlain had
attended our informational meeting on November 5, 1986, but had a conflict on December
3, 1986.
The Police Department has increased its presence in the area since November 5, 1986,
and while issuing a number of citations for "Stop" sign violations, found no speeding
problem.
As was discussed with Mr. Chamberlain on November 5, 1986, the substandard width of
the roadway, and lack of sidewalks, are a detriment to both vehicular and pedestrian
safety. While the Committee currently finds no demonstrated traffic problem on Cedar
Street, its geometric inadequacies are a concern to us. Regardless of any plans for
Pine Meadows, the Town should consider future improvements on Cedar Street.
