Eddison, Chairman DATE: December 12, 1983 Board of Selectmen FROM: Peter M Chalpin, Cha'rma SUBJECT: Traffic Safety Committee Traffic Committee _ 7/, Meeting - 12/03/88 V Marrett Road - School Crossing Guard At its meeting of December 3, 1986, the Traffic Safety Committee met with Mrs. Patricia DeBonte, regarding her request for a crossing guard on Marrett Road for children attending Clark Junior High School. The Committee, and Mr. Maclnnes, feel that a crossing guard should be located near Stedman Road, the footpath to the school. In conjunction, we feel that a sidewalk should be constructed on the northerly side of Marrett Road, from Kendall Road to near Stedman Road, approximately 550' . There are 35 children who potentially use this walking route to the Clark, a more than sufficient number we feel to warrant a crossing guard, particularly on a road like Marrett Road, and to justify the sidewalk construction. The Committee unanimously recommends both. The Committee looked at placing the crossing guard at Kendall Road which would have eliminated the necessity for sidewalk construction. However, the vertical geometry of Marrett Road, which shortens sight distances approaching Kendall Road, caused considerable concern among all parties involved. Those in Attendance: Peter M.
