Eddison, Chairman DATE: September 25, 1987 Board of Selectmen FROM: Peter M. Chalpin, Chairman SUBJECT: Waltham Street at Traffic Safety Advisory Comm,i, , =. Brookside Avenue Mrs. Cordell At its meeting of September 16, 1987, the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee met with Mrs. Cordell and Mrs. Schwartz to discuss a request for a pedestrian signal at Waltham Street and Brookside Avenue. On June 11, 1987, the Engineering Department completed a traffic/pedestrian volume study at this location and assessed compliance with the traffic signal warrants. It was found that none of the eight warrants were met. As a result of this, and the fact that there is a crossing guard on station, the Committee unanimously recommends against traffic signals at this location. We do, however, recommend installing two "School Crossing" signs and two "School Advance" signs on Waltham Street. Those in Attendance: Peter M. Chalpin Dr. Clarke Mr. Trask Sgt.
