Chalpin, As stant Town Eng. SUBJECT: Bartlett Avenue • James ma, Capt.i .f Traffic Please be advised that we have reviewed the letter from Mr. Arthur Hill, Headmaster at Lexington Christian Academy regarding traffic safety on Bartlett Avenue. We have gone to Bartlett Avenue and weighed various alternatives for increasing awareness among those using the street . Realizing that those who use the street do so on a regular basis , and should already be aware of general conditions , it appeared that advisory type signing would be of little or no value. It was therefore a- greed that a regulation change relative to parking would be in order. Prohibiting parking on one side on weekdays would serve to maintain a suitable clear pavement width to safely accommodate two-way traffic. In addition, a single yellow line would be of use at all times . For the majority of time, Bartlett Avenue functions as a residential street and, as such, would not require any advisory or regulatory signing. However, we feel that slugs of traffic to and from the school during certain hours increase the poten- tial for problems, which exists on every street, and therefore recommend the above measures. pmc/w enclosure
