MEMORANDUM
To: Mr. Robert Cataldo, Chairman, Bd. of Selectmen DATE: Jan. 18, 1972 PAGE:
FROM: Traffic Committee suaJEDT:Vine Brook Rd.
The possibility of banning parking along one side of Vine Brook Rd. as a way of
dealing with problems about which the residents are complaining has been discussed
by the Traffic Committee. It is the opinion of the Committee that this approach
should be taken only if the residents are fully aware of its implications and
are in agreement as to the desirability of prohibiting parking and as to which
side of the street and during which hours parking should be prohibited (such as
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday) .
If parking is limited to one side, more of the roadway will be open, encouraging
more through traffic. Furthermore, the enforcement of such parking prohibition
would apply to the cars of the residents of Vine Brook Rd. and their visitors, if
parked on the street, which could be a hardship to some of the residents.
It is our suggestion that the residents be informed of this possibility and its
implications and given an opportunity to petition for prohibition of parking if
they so desire.
