f1 MEMORANDUM
rd of Selectmen DATE: June 1, 197'2- PAGE:
ROM Traffic Committee SUBJECT' Traffic Congestion
r
The Traffic Committee has noted a considerable increase in traffic on Town streets,
both during the rush hours and otherwise. This increase in traffic has led to
traffic congestion and back ups particularly on Marrett Rd. at Walthaii St. , at the
intersection of Woburn and Lowell streets and in the Center. The increased traffic
does not appear to be caused by the reconstruction of Rte. 128 north of Rte. 3 or
by any other single condition. Thommittee believes that the Board of Selectmen
and the Planning Board shpuld be app icsed of the situation and anticipate further
growth of traffic, particularly as, he employment situation gradually improves, and
provide for relief measures before the conditions become intolerable.
