as reviewed by' the Traffic Commit e.
t" e use of on-street parking by one particular business would reduce the total
parking space available to the public, making an already bad shortage even :tforse.
Furthermore, it would be improper to withdraw any part of a public street for
private use by anyone. This could be a very harmful precedent encouraging every
tenant in the downtown district to request reserved parking, a request which, ob-
viously, is impossible to satisfy. For these reasons the Traffic Committee recom-
mends against granting the request of the Arlex Auto School.
It may be noted that the public parking shortage in the area would be relieved
somewhat by an extension of the Meriam St. parking lot.
