T' O ' Robert Cataldo, Chairman O F Board of Sele tmen:. D A T E July 1, 1970 FI LE RE. Traffic Committee Mr. McSweeney related to us the questions raised by the Selectmen regarding the proposed relocation of the bus stop from in front of the Lexington Federal Savings & Loan Assn. The Traffic Committee reviewed the situation and wishes to reiterate its recommendations that the bus stop he relocated in front of the Cary Library on a trial basis for the following reasons: 1. Crossing the Mass. Ave. traffic from Bedford St. to in front of the Library can be accomplished without particular difficulty. Such crossing is necessary for the use of the existing bus stop, although the available crossing distance is greater. 2. The relocation of the bus stop would free three prime parking spaces in front of the two of the principal local banks. 3. Under the present conditions cars are often parked in the bus stop space, forcing the bus to halt in the street and obstruct one lane to traffic. 4. The Library may provide shelter for those waiting for the bus during inclement weather. " '°' ` .
