TO Allan F. Kenney, Chairman DATE. 6/10/74 PAGE.
Board of Selectmen
FROM John J . McSweeney, Chairman SUBJECT• Buckman Drive -
Traffic Safety Committee Traffic Safety
At its meeting of 5/28/74, the Traffic Safety Committee discussed
Mrs. Pearlman's letter regarding traffic safety in the Buckman Drive
area. The Committee was of the opinion the term "speedway" used by
Mrs. Pearlman was an exaggeration. Also, after being informed by
Chief Corr that the Police Department had found no unusual speeding
problems in the area, the Committee felt that this was another example
of neighborhood traffic, where the drivers show little courtesy for
their neighbors while driving through their neighbor's streets, yet
expect courtesy from them on their own. The Committee did vote to
request the Engineering Department to study the intersections of
Buckman Drive and Dawes Road, and Foilen Road and Locust Street as
possible Stop sign locations.
Those of the Traffic Safety Committee in attendance were•
Mr. John J . McSweeney, Chairman
Chief Corr, Police Department
Mr. Kenneth Briggs, Planning Board
Mr. Peter Chalpin, Traffic Engineer
