MEMORANDUM
To Mr. Robert Cataldo, Chairman, Bd of Selectmen DATE. Oct. 25, 1971 PAGE.
FROM Traffic Committee SUBJECT.iseriam St. Traffic
The petition of Julie Cadle relative to traffic on Meriam St was reviewed by the
Traffic Committee. Ve recommend no action at this time.
The reasons for our recommendation are as fellows
1 Meriam St is no different from ohter streets around Lexington Center. The
alignment and topography of Yeriam St. do not encourage speeding.
2. As of now, the proposed three-story Central Block plans have been dropped. The
new plans, recently submitted, provide for no apartments.
3. The widening of Mass. Ave in front of the proposed Central Block, the expected
reconstruction of the library and the adjacent parking area and other anticipated
changes in the Center will affect the traffic and change the conditions.
4. Eliminating on-street parking on Meriam St. would encourage higher speeds.
