MEMORANDUM
TO Dr. Howard M. Kessler DATE Dec. 17, 1975 PAGE
Board of Selectmen
FROM John J . McSweeney, Chairman SUBJECT' Harrington School Area
Traffic Safety Committee
At its meeting of December 16, 1975, the Traffic Safety Committee
discussed your request for an opinion regarding 20 M.P.H. School Zones
on Lowell Street and Maple Street at the Harrington School property.
It was the Committee's feeling that, since there are now three crossing
guards to assist the Harrington School children, there is no need for
the 20 M.P.H. School Zones. The crossing guards are located on Maple
Street at the school driveway, on Lowell Street at the school driveway,
and at Lowell Street and Woburn Street. As we have stated many times
in the past, we feel that the crossing guard is the ultimate in protec-
tion for school children. This being the case, we consider the instal-
lation of 20 M.P.H. School Zones unnecessary.
Those of the Traffic Safety Committee in attendance were:
