TRAFFIC SAFETY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MEMORANDUM
TO: Jacqueline Smith, Chairman DATE: May 17, 1989
Board of Selectmen
FROM: Peter M. Chalpin, Chairman ' td,4 SUBJECT: Wood Street
Traffic Safety Advisory COthit*tte
At its meeting of May 10, 1989, the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee met with
Mr. John LaPointe to discuss a problem which occurs in the area of #215, #221 and
#227 Wood Street. The problem involves cars skidding off the road and entering
these properties. This problem has occurred during both winter and summer months
and has involved vehicles traveling at the speed limit, as well as vehicles
exceeding it.
The Committee recommends installation of 175' plus or minus of wooden guard rail in
the grass area between the street and sidewalk along the frontage of #221 and *227.
The cost is estimated to be $3850. Some years ago, a guard rail of this type was
installed at #69 Fremont Street, and seems to have solved a similar problem.
In addition, we recommend installation of two "Dangerous Curve" signs approaching
this area of Wood Street.
