TRAFFIC SAFETY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MEMORANDUM
TO: Jacqueline Smith, Chairman DATE: May 17, 1989
Board of Selectmen
FROM: Peter M. Chalpin, Chairman4\ SUBJECT: Five Forks
Traffic Safety Advisory Comb
At its meeting of May 10, 1989, the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee met with a
group from the Five Forks area to discuss their concerns about conditions at this
intersection, including School Street. It has been a high accident location for at
least the past six years, and the Committee feels that action should be taken toward
redesign and signalization. It is toward this end that the Committee recommends
that a detailed traffic engineering study, including recommendations for
improvements and cost estimates, be undertaken.
As you know, this intersection is under Commonwealth of Massachusetts jurisdiction.
Under normal fiscal circumstances, the State would be requested to perform the study
and subsequent construction work. We believe that the Town should make the request
of the State.
