Traffic Safety Advisory ComeA Page #1 :f 2
At its meeting of March 22, 1989, the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee met with
representatives of the South Lexington Civic Association to discuss Concord Avenue
`raffic _ssues. Enclosed is the agenda presented by the Association at :ur meeting
The Committee recommends the following:
ITEM I-B
Enclosed are copies of the current speed postings on Concord Avenue, which
are vigorously enforced Changing these posted speeds will require our
requesting Mass. D.P W. to perform radar studies to determine today's 85th
percentile speed, as was done on Maple Street and Lowell Street Pursuant to
that determination the Town would decide what, if any, course to take. To
begin this process, we recommend that the request be made to Mass. D.P.W.
ITEM I-C
These two missing signs will be replaced by our D.P.W.
ITEM II-B
Enclosed is a copy of an article given to the Committee by the Association
concerning cameras and laser radar. While the Committee is only vaguely
familiar with radar cameras, it is our understanding that State legislative
action is required prior to their use, and that a Colorado law to that effect
is currently being challenged on constitutional grounds. Therefore, we have
no recommendation at this time;
In addition, the Committee recommends that two "SCHOOL" signs be installed on the
approaches to the Cotting School

specifically with regard to Items III, IV, V, and VI.
