MEMORANDUM
TO: Jacquelyn Smith, Chairman DATE: July 13, 1990
Board of Selectmen
FROM: Peter M. Chalpin, Chairma, SUBJECT: 149 Spring Street
Traffic Safety Advisory Coyq --
At its meeting of July 11 , 1990, the TSAC met with Mr Thomas Gallagher and with Mr.
K Huang and Mr. Lee of the Chinese Bible Church proposed for the property at 149
Spring Street This meeting was the result of concerns about parking on "Old Spring
Street" expressed by Mr. Gallagher, Mr Spiers, and Chief Bergeron "Old Spring
Street" is very narrow and cannot accommodate any on street parking. It is our
understanding that the new church will seat 700, and that the maximum number of
parking spaces required to be provided on the site is 143 The Committee sees a great
potential for spillover parking on "Old Spring Street" unless it is posted No Parking.
It is therefore recommended that "Old Spring Street" be posted No Parking on both
sides for its entire length, including the cul-de-sac.
