Virtual Meeting MINUTES
May 21, 2025
Members Present (12 members; no vacancy): Glen Bassett, co-chair; Linda Dixon; Yifang
Gong: Dave Grabel; Cerise Jalelian; Lorain Marquis; Sue Stering; Karen Tyler (Veterans
Liaison); Geetha Padaki, co-chair; Sandy Podgorski. Absent: Mary Hutton, Sondra Lucente.
Honorary: Robert Tracey. Quorum: 7 Full Members.
Subcommittee Members Present (15 members, 4 vacancies): Sudha Balasuryan, Gresh
Lattimore, Jamie Lee, Pam Winters. Absent: Steve Cole, Ashley Rooney Mirela Vaso, Perla
Walling-Sotolong, Huma Wasim, Hong Xie.
Guests: None.
7:03 PM: Geetha called the meeting to order; then passed meeting to Glen.
7:05 PM: Minutes of May 7, 2025 were approved with modifications.
Nominations for Chair or Co -Chairs and Secretary
- Glen, Geetha, and Gresh have all stated that they will not run for re-election for 2025-2026.
- Dave and Sudha have both stepped forward to be considered as the new Co -Chairs.
- The Secretary position still remains to be filled. All TCC members are encouraged to consider
serving in that post!
- Confirmation votes for the new Officers will be taken at our last meeting on June 11.
Memorial Day Planning / Linda
- The schedule will unfold as follows on Monday, May 26
- 8:15am Bus leaves from Battle Green with Lexington Minute Man contingent and TCC
members to lay a wreath at the Fire Station and another wreath at the Westwood Cemetery
Memorial. Gresh will read "In Flanders Fields." (Linda and Jamie will ensure 12 wreath
stands and wreaths are in hand.)
- 10am The ceremony at Munroe Cemetery steps off with the Lexington Minute Man and Police
Honor Guards. Wreaths will be laid at the graves of the Civil War fallen and Medal of Honor
recipient Private Thomas Cosgrove, followed by a volley. Cerise and Lorain will coordinate use
of the portable microphone for all speakers. At the gazebo Scouts will lay carnations of the
graves of eight WWI fallen. Another volley is fired. Then Sam Doran will preside with speakers
reading General John Logan's order establishing Memorial Day (Minute Man Commanding
Steve Cole), Lincoln's Gettysburg Address (Steve Gibson, Minute Man), and Sam's
concluding remarks. Then the ceremony will march to the Police Station and Korean War
Memorials, with wreaths being laid at each. Finally, the group will march to Emery Park, where
a ceremony will be held.
- At Emery Park: Chairs will be delivered by DPW, Pan and Sue coordinating. Sandy will
distribute programs. Flags will come from Cary Hall: Sandy, Karen, and Geetha. No singers
but the Lexington High School Band will play.
Other Business: All leaders of the annual TCC events are requested to submit a very brief
overview of their efforts on Veterans Day, Dance Around the World, Patriots' Day, and Memorial
Day. Glen will submit them to the Town.
- June 11 is our last TCC meeting this season. We will vote on the List of new Officers then.
