Virtual Meeting MINUTES
February 5, 2025
Members Present (12 members; no vacancy): Glen Bassett, co-chair; Linda Dixon; Dave Grabel;
Cerise Jalelian; Gresh Lattimore; Lorain Marquis; Sandy Podgorski; Sue Stering.
Absent: Yifang Gong; Geetha Padaki, co-chair; Sondra Lucente; Karen Tyler, Veterans Liaison.
Honorary: Julie Miller, Robert Tracey. Quorum: 7Fu11Members.
Subcommittee Members Present (15 members, 5 vacancies): Bonnie Karshbaum, Briana Karshbaum,
Jaime Lee, Ashley Rooney, Pam Winters, Hong Zie. Absent: Steve Cole, Mirela Vaso, Perla Walling-
Sotolong, Huma Wassim.
Guests: Elsie Xu (Lexington Council for the Arts); Celeste Ang (Lexington High School); Michael
Tymm, photographer.
7:00 PM: Glen called the meeting to order.
Dance Around the World (March 8, 2025) / Elsie Xu
- 14 dance groups will participate.
- Sudha is negotiating the DJ contract.
- Budget: $4,800 of total $5,000 Town contribution is already accounted for. If further funding
required, Council for the Arts may provide it or others will be approached.
- Glen pointed out that care must be taken when gift certificates are given to participants. Town
regulations do not allow actual payment for services rendered.
7:31 PM: Minutes for January 8, 2025, approved with corrections.
Patriots' Day Parade / Dave
- Dave presented a list of 11 items for consideration
Sponsorships: 6 sponsors in hand, including a Titanium Sponsor for $5,000. 600 letters to local
businesses may need to be followed up with a personal phone call or visit. Goal is $35,000.
- Location details to Parade participants being held up by Town logistic requirements. A meeting is
being scheduled/
- Glen will provide Task Lists to Stakeholders at a meeting soon to be scheduled.
- Publicity: any publicity pertaining to the Parade alone may be handled by TCC. Signs & Banners:
Bonnie and daughter Brianna agreed to lead this group.
Ambassador Program: a brainstorming session has been held. Publicity will be coordinated by
Sandy, Pam & Ashley
- Glen will donate a popup tent to TCC.
- iPad familiarity required this year to ensure the Grandstand knows the Parade order.
- Golf Carts: At least 13 are needed. We are requesting that the DPW deliver them to Lois Lane for
easy accessibility. Sandy to follow-up.
- New Town W9s for reimbursement are now available.
- Liability Insurance: Town has no liability regarding Parade participants.
Other Business:
1. Lorain reported that TCC attendance at MLK Day was thin. She and a few others did attend.
2. Lorain reminded TCC members that TCC jackets and shirts should be ordered now. Former
providers are no longer around, so Tricon Sports will be the new vender. Jackets require at least
12. She will coordinate these purchases. Also: need a nametag? Pin or magnet backing?
3. We need to settle Honorarium Status for Paul Jenkins, Bill Mix, and Charlie Price. Bill Tracey
has already been approved by the Select Board.
4. Celeste Ang presented an idea for a sing -along on Patriots' Day. Since the day already has more
than enough activities scheduled, she'll have to approach Lex250 to see if any space is available.
