Virtual Meeting MINUTES
January 8, 2025
Members Present (12 members; no vacancy): Linda Dixon, Dave Grabel, Mary Hutton, Cerise
Jalelian, Gresh Lattimore, Lorain Marquis, Getha Padaki, co-chair, Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering.
Absent: Glen Bassett, Sondra Lucente, Yifang Gong, Karen Tyler (Veterans Liaison). Quorum; 7
Full Members.
Subcommittee Members Present (15 members; 5 vacancies): Sudha Balasuryan, Jamie Lee, Ashley
Rooney, Hong Xie, Pam Winters. Absent: Steve Cole, Bonnie Karshbaum, Mirela Vaso, Perla
Walling-Sotolong, Huma Wasim.
7:03 PM: Geetha called the meeting to order.
7:05 PM: The Minutes for December 4, 2024, were approved.
- The Minutes for December 18, 2024, will be recirculated with revisions and voted on at the next
meeting.
Patriots' Day Parade / Dave
- Flyover: Pam is working with the 504th Air National Guard to provide two F15's. Cost $6,000.
- We are finalizing details of 20 remaining participants.
- Cerise is leading the Parade Line Up Sub Committee with Pam providing digital support. They
plan to hold the second meeting on Sunday, January 12.
- Sponsorship levels: Bronze - $500, Silver - $1,000, Gold - $1,500, Platinum - $2,500, and Titanium
-$5,000.
- All publicity items must be submitted to Lex250 Public Relations firm. We should send them
drafts first.
- Grand Marshal Charlie Price: OK to make this honor public.
- Lex High School graduate Ethan Zohn has donated $1 million for the Global Soccer Award.
- Kudos to Dave for all the hard work he's been doing for this Parade!
Dance Around the World / Sudha
- 12 groups have confirmed participation. Included are dancers from China, Korea, Ireland, and
Colonial US.
- Insurance will be covered by the Town.
- Some vendors will be allowed to provide food in the Cary foyer.
- Ashley reminded us of the need for security with so many attendees and a long program.
Lex250 / Cerise
- This Saturday, January 11, a volunteer training will be held. All encouraged to attend.
- Invitations to leaders worldwide will be sent out this week by the Lex250 website.
- There will be security at the start of the Parade at Maple Street and townwide.
MLK Day, January 20: Lorain said she's not seen much publicity about this event.
