HomeMy WebLinkAbout2239 Report of committee chosen "to purchase land and build a Town-house" (a Town Hall), May 31, 1847Lexington May 31st 1847 The Committee chosen March 30th 1846 to purchase land and build a town-house have attended to the duty assigned them and would respectfully submit the following report, Your Committee purchased a lot of Land in accordance with a vote of the town posted March 30th 1846, for the sum of eleven hundred dollars $1,100,00 A building has been erected at an expense including stone work, cellar, grading &c of 4,046,01 Furniture, lights, furnace & fuel &c has been procured at an expense of 414.57 Interest has been paid on notes and accounts that have fallen due to the amount of 75.13 Total amount $ 6,235,71 The amount received for which notes have been given amount to $ 6217.50 leaving a balance due the Committee of $ 18.21 Your Committee have not deemed it necessary to be very minute in particularizing all the expenditures, but have given the aggregate (for which the [they] have vouchers) as a board of Auditors have been chosen whose duty it will be to examine all the above expenses.
