HomeMy WebLinkAbout426 Report on the boundary between Lexington & West Cambridge, November 20, 1860Nov 20 1860 Charles Hudson and Wm Henry Smith 2d Se- lectmen of Lexington and Washington Y. Lane and S. Woodbridge Selectmen of West Cambridge met at the House of Oliver Winship in Lexing- ton for the purpose of perambulating the line between the Two Towns. We proceeded to the cor- ner of Winchester where we found a Monu- ment marked L.W.C and W. This Monument stands on the brow of a hill upon a ledge and is braced by iron rods; thence we proceeded to a Monument standing in an open pasture [nearly?] east of Oliver Winship's House; thence to a Monument standing by the side of the old Turnpike now discontinued; thence to a Monument standing by the side of the pre sent travelled way southeasterly of the old Dix- on House in Lexington; thence to a Monu- ment standing beside the main travelled road from Lexington to West Cambridge; thence to a Monument standing in the woods on the land of W.W. Chenery; thence to a Monument standing in an open open pasture on elevated land some 30 rods northerly of the House of Amos Russell in West Cambridge. The whole line between Lexington and West Cambridge run N.E.&S.W. and the Monuments are all in a good condition and are marked L.&W.C. from the last named Monument, we procedded to a Monument standing on the top of a hill in an open field, some 80 rods S.W. of the old Bowman place in Lexington, and some 20 rods N.E. of the road leading from Lexington to Watertown. This Monument marks the corner of West Cambridge and Belmont on the Lexington line and is marked L. W.C. B. Washington Y Lane} Selectmen Samuel P.
