HomeMy WebLinkAbout425 Perambulation between Lexington & Waltham, November 21, 1860We the Undersigned Selectmen of Lexington and of Waltham respectively met, this 21st day of November, A.D. 1860 to perambulate the line between Lexington & Waltham. We proceeded to a Monument standing on a hill about 100 rods Southerly of the old Concord Turnpike, marked L.B.W being the corner of Lexington, Belmont and Waltham; thence we proceeded westerly about 144 rods to a Monument marked L.W. standing on the road Northwesterly of the house of Addison Platts some 50 rods; thence about 174 rods to a Monument marked L.W. standing near the House of Archelaus Bennett; thence about 97 rods to a Monument about 20 rods Westerly of the road leading from Lexington to Waltham; - this Monument is a large rock with the initials of the two Towns inscribed upon it; thence about 91 rods to a Monument standing by a wall by the side of a wood lot of Howard Cutler in Lexington, and some 5 rods westerly of a swamp, marked L.W. thence about 500 rods to a Monument at the corner of Lexington Waltham and Lincoln marked L.W.L. This Monument stands in an open pasture, near a corner of a stone wall, and is about 8 rods from the brook which runs to the old Saw Mill about 80 rods below We found these Monument in a good condition, and properly inscribed The line between the Towns is supposed to be straight Saml.
