Charles Hudson and Webster Smith Selectmen
of the Town of Lexington M. W. Marsh
Selectman and Agent of the Town of Belmont
met this day for the purpose of perambulating
the line between the two towns. We proceeded
to a Monument standing on a hill
about one hundred rods west of the Old Concord
Turnpike, marked LW.B being the corner
of Lexington and on the line of Waltham & Belmont; such
Monuent stands upon a ledge to which it
is fastened by an iron bolt; thence Northeasterly
to a Monument standing in or near a brook
in Rock Meadow about 88 rods distant from
the first mentioned bound. As this Monument
is in soft ground where it is difficult to
make it stand, the parties thought it expedient
to have a wooden post of considerable
height erected by its side so as to be usable at
all times. From thence we proceeded to a Monument
standing on high land between the space
said Old Turnpike and the road leading
from East Lexington to Watertown, marked
L. B. thence to a Monument standing
on high ground in the open field south-
west of the Old Bowman place in Lexington,
marked W. C. B. L. being the corner of West
Cambridge and Belmont on the Lexington
line.
We find all these Monuments in a good
condition. The line between the two towns is
supposed to be straight
