But this land has cost the town a considerable sum of money; and we therefore recommend that before any deed shall pass the Assessors be directed to view the ground and ap- praise the value of the estate to be sold. This ar- rangement, it is thought, will be satisfactory to the person propsing to purchase. We recommend the passage of the votes appended hereto. Respectfully submitted, John W. Hudson } Charles Nunn } Webster Smith } Committee Voted - That the Town Treasurer be authorized, in the name and behalf of the town, to execute and deliver, upon receipt of the consideration money, the town's deed to James S. Monroe of so much of the easterly portion of the new burial ground as shall include the old road and a small part of the land lying westerly of it;- no part of the westerly boundary to the westerly of the old line of the fence, and said boun- dary to be curved and in the centre thereof to be the at least fifty feet easterly from said old line of the fence. Said deed shall reserve to the Over grantor a right of way to and over said old road, and require the grantee to maintain the division fence. Voted - That the Assessors be directed to view the ground and appraise the value of the estate named in the deed aforesaid; and their appraisement [appraisal] shall be the consider- ation of said deed. Voted - That the balance of the sum received for said sale, af- ter payment to the necessary expenses of the conveyance, be appropriated to the improve- ment of said burying grounds. Rep. p. 46 [illegible] Art. 12 Report of the Committee on selling a portion of the new Cemetery to J. S. Munro [Munroe] Accepted by the Town March 7th 1870. Leonard G. Babcock Town Clerk
