TOWN OF LEXINGTON,
TO OWNERS OF DOGS.
Inasmuch as there have been cases of Rabies in this or adjoin-
ing Towns, it has been decided as a matter of precaution to order all
dogs properly and securely muzzled or restrained from running at large
during the next three months, after January 18, 1907. This order will
be continued at the end of that time for a longer period if it is then
thought necessary.
This action is taken under authority given us in Section 158,
Chapter 102 of the Revised Laws.
The Police Department are instucted to strictly enforce this order.
They are also instructed to see to it that that portion of the
law is - enforced which requires owners of licensed dogs to have them
wear a collar with a plate inscribed with the owner's name and the
license number, and dogs not wearing such a suitable collar will be
looked upon in the same light as ownerless dogs.
Dogs that are muzzled in such a way as to evade the order,—
that is, dogs that are not properly and securely muzzled, will be
looked upon as dogs that are not muzzled at all, and meet with the
same fate; and all stray, ownerless and unlicensed dogs found running
at large without muzzles while this order is in effect will be killed.
By order of
