Minutes of the meeting held at the offices of LexHAB at 1620 Massachusetts Avenue in Lexington on
September 14, 2017
There were present at the meeting the Chairman Bill Kennedy,Vice-chairman, Bob Burbidge, Bill Hays,
Martha Wood, Donna Leary, and Henry Liu, Also present were Pat Nelson, LexHAB counsel.
Not present was Gerry Howell, Bob Phelan, Lester Savage
The chairman presided.
The meeting opened at 7:06 a.m.
1. Minutes
The minutes for the meeting on August 23, 2017 were approved as presented. Motion to accept the
minutes was made and seconded, motion passed.
2. Financials
No Financial report this month
3. Busa Farm
A. Discussions were had about the construction prices and the need to go before CPA and ask for
additional funding.The original estimate from Carter Scott differs from ours due to construction
material, extra site work, and having to use the public bidding drives up the cost.
B. Lip process update, we have a preliminary eligibility letter and the next step is the regulatory
agreement. We will ask Jennifer Van Campen to meet with us to explain the process going forward.
C. There will be a meeting with Lex Farm people on September 25 @ 8:30 to update them on the
project. Bob Burbidge and Lester Savage will attend the meeting.
4. Fairview
A.the ADA unit is occupied, and the home at 11 Fairview will have tenants moving in September 151"
The 1 bedroom unit will have a tenant October 1, 2017. Expecting full occupancy by the end of October.
5. Wright Farm
Discussions about securing an architect for this project was had, also discussions we had about hiring an
attorney with public bidding experience.
Also discussed was keeping the minuteman tech kids involved with the rehab.
6. Keeler Farm
A.Advertisements for the new lottery has begun.
7. Other Matters
The new director position was discussed, and a job description is being worked on. Ann Costco from HR
is helping with the description. The taskforce was asked to give recommendations on how and where to
advertise the job and also to conduct the interviews.
David Errico would like to speak with the board about affordable home ownership.
8. Next Meeting
The next meeting of the LexHAB Board,will be held at the LexHAB offices at 1620 Massachusetts
Avenue in Lexington at 7:00am on October 18, 2017
9. Executive Session
The chairman then proposed that the Board go into executive session to consider tenant matters,
stating that consideration of same in open session could have a detrimental effect on the negotiating
position of a semi-public body, namely LexHAB,
And might also affect adversely the privacy rights of tenants and that the Board not return open session
at the end except to adjourn.
