3. Global School Play TED Talk
Day, February 7
Importance of independent unstructured play.
Kids don't have the opportunity to develop those skills
to allow them to be successful as an interpersonal
adult.
Fiske Elementary School piloted the idea and had positive
feedback. What did they change that we could learn from?
Limited by grade, intergrade opportunities? Sounds fantastic
but chaotic.
It was brought up at the faculty meeting and was received
well. Discussion about half day versus full day.
Contained within the classroom and allowing classroom
community building.
Students bring in their own interactive games and activities
(partner or group).
Encouraging students to invite others to play.
4. Hurricane Relief Faculty expressed the desire to do something regarding
Fundraising Puerto Rico's Hurricane Relief. Hoping to have this be
student driven and allow students the ownership of the
contribution. As a school community, Harrington wants to
take initiative. Possibly involve the PTA.
4. Arrival and With the abundance of snow, it seems there are a lot of
Dismissal Procedures issues around arrival and dismissal. Cars are dropping off
their children in the wrong place and parking in Emergency
vehicle lane. Students climbing up snow banks. Talk to the
town about where snow is piled up.
Signage with images of buses.
