Ms. Lisa Colagiovanni, Faculty Rep Agenda Notes Welcome to everyone- Happy New Year Approval of minutes from * Motion to approve minutes from December December 13, 2024 13 found 1-j E !:Z. E * Approved 8-0 * Future meeting dates are listed on the bottom of agendas as an FYI Planning for our Joy in Learning * Ms. Daley began the conversation with the Celebration history behind Joy in Learning (JIL) Feedback from the Council and Ideas Celebrations generated * Three years ago, LPS switched from School Improvement Plans to School Innovation Plans * With that came the concept of a "Joy in Learning" celebration to capture an opportunity for a variety of stakeholders to visit schools to watch student learning and activities * Harrington's first JIL two-hour JIL celebration had multiple activities, including science, technology, phonics, ELA, visiting dogs, "We All Belong" videos, student ambassadors, etc. • Julie Scafidi commented that it really felt like the "reopening" of school after COVID • Stakeholders received name tags and student ambassadors led them in groups throughout the event participating in multiple activities • Principals met and want to try and make it a more authentic experience this time around • Ms. Daley asked the team what would you want to see? • Denise mentioned Fundations as a focal point to see • Rahnuma agreed that it would be great to see the progress on activities highlighted earlier for folks who visited two years ago • Melissa wondered about learning more about how staffing is used; that can be challenging, however, due to student privacy. We primarily "push in" versus "pull out! • Julie talked about showcasing a mini -lesson in writing to capture some work that has already been completed as well as a launch of a new unit • Ms. Daley talked about launching the JIL celebration this year with an All HAWKS meeting • Melissa talked about how it will be great to see how we are growing after COVID • Highlighting student experiences will be key • Discussion around highlighting Harrington as one of three METCO elementary schools in LPS • Dr. O'Connor mentioned that we would first check with Ms. Hamilton to gain her perspective on this idea before proceeding • Ms. Daley made a motion to adjoin, approved 8-0. New business: Future Dates: February 7, 2025 JOY IN LEARNING CELEBRATION -Thursday, February 27 9:30-11am
