The Board held a regular meeting in the Selectmen's Meeting ROOM. Present
and acting on petitions: Woodruff M. Brodhead, Chairman
Natalie H. Riffin (except for first hearing)
Robert M. Gary
Eric T. Clarke, Associate
Laurence K. Redgate, Associate
and Jonathan P. Doran (for first hearing only)
Public hearings were held on the following petitions, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
8 Field Rd., Thomas and Maria Ch. B. Schinkel requested a variance of dimensional
controls (ZBL Table 2) to build an addition to the front of the house.
643 Waltham St., James B. Catalano, d/b/a Whitehouse Gardens, requested a special
permit (ZBL Section 3.3) to carry on business as usual, which is the operation of
retail business of selling flowers, produce and plants grown on premises (ref.
Table 1, lines 3.2 & 3.4) at 643 Waltham St. (RO zone).
927 Waltham St., Nicholas A. Cannalonga requested renewal of a special permit (ZBL
Section 3.3) to continue operation of a nursery (Table 1, line 3.2) and to store
and sell all of the supplementary items specified in Section 5.5. (Wagon Wheel
Nursery & Garden Centre),
' 6 North Hancock St., Luigi & Frances Staniscia requested a special permit (Sec.
3.3) for take out food service (Table 1, line 6.14) at Hancock Market, located in
a CN neighborhood business distract (ref. Sec. 9.8 for parking requirements).
35 Bedford St., Prescott Associates (Medical Office Condominium) requested a
special permit to erect a standing, illuminated sign (ZBL Sections 10.1.4, 10.2.5
& 10.4.4). This is in a CB zone.
Property on Hayden Ave. & Spring St. (Cr -office and research park district),
Ledgemont Associates, c/o Beal & Co., INc. requested a special permit (ZBL Section
3.4 - SPS - site plan review) to develop property on proposed Lot B, part of Lot
2A shown on Town property map 18, by constructing a building (approximately
.200,000 s.f.) for office purposes (all uses of 4.0 of Table 1 and line 7.2).
Decisions filed with the Town Clerk:
8 Field Rd. - Request denied by vote of 3 to 2; Robert M. Gary & Jonathan P.
Doran voting in opposition.
643 Waltham St. - SP granted unanimously. SP will expire on 5/12/85.
927 Waltham St. - SP granted unanimously. SP will expire on 4/24/88.
6 No. Hancock St. - SP granted (4 to 1, Gary voting in opposition). Exp. 5/12/85.
35 Bedford St.-- - SP granted for standing sign.
Hayden Ave. & Spring St. Hearing continued to May 24, 1983, 7:30 p.m.
