HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-05-13BOARD OF APPEALS May 13, 1976 The Board of Appeals held a regular meeting on Thursday, May 13, 1976, begin- ning at 7:30 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room of the Town Office Building. Present were: Chairman Nickerson, vice chairman Wadsworth, R. Morey, I. Mabee, and associate member Robert Cataldo. Also present were a room full of townspeople, a representative of the League of Women Voters and a Lexington Minute -Man Reporter. Public hearings were held on the following petitions, notices having been mailed to the proper people and advertised in the newspaper as required by law. James V. Cosgrove - renewal of a special permit, pursuant to Sections 12.2, 25.33 and 25.34 to continue to operate a roadside stand at 307 Wood Street for the pur- pose of selling poultry, eggs, plants, produce and wood and also to sell Christmas trees and wreaths in season. Millipore Corporation - permission to erect a sign on the premises located at 35 Hartwell Avenue and permission under Section 25.84 and other applicable provisions to allow for the operation of an employees' cafeteria. The Toad Stool Boutique - permission to erect a sign to be hung from the soffit of the porch at 1632 Massachusetts Avenue. Liberty Realty Trust - permission under Section 12.2 of the zoning bylaw to enlarge the building numbered 15-17-19 Depot Square by addition of a second floor. Said building being a non -conforming building this request for a special permit is under the provisions of Section 30.3. The proposed addition will be conforming with plans and drawings submitted with this petition and as previously approved by the Board of Appeals on June 25, 1963. (Building Commissioner refused a building permit.) John P. Carroll - permission to continue to pick up and keep cars, without allow- ing them to be taken from the trucks overnight on the premises known as 31 Allen Street, away from the abutters and the street so as not to constitute an eye sore, as more particularly spelled out in a permit issued on or about June 7, 1973. The Board made the following decisions, all in open meeting with spectators remaining to hear the verdicts. See permits for details. Cosgrove - granted unanimously. Millipore - granted unanimously. Liberty Realty - granted unanimously. Toad Stool - granted unanimously. Carroll - granted on a 4 to 1 vote, Mrs. Morey voting in the negative. All the above permits were granted subject to certain conditions. All pertinent material is on file in the Board of Appeals' office under the name of the petitioner.
