HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-07-22I BOARD OF APPEALS HEARINGS July 22, 1969 A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday, July 22, 1969, at 7:30 p.m. in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building. Present were Chairman Nickerson, regular members Sheldon, Dawes, Wadsworth and Abbott. Mrs. Morey was present for action on the Charles H. Cole II petition which was heard on July 1, 1969. The following petitions were heard: Lexington Trust Company for permit to maintain a free standing sign in front of the bank building at 1822 Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington. Myer and Ida Herman for variance to permit the construction of a single car garage, to be located at 6 Wachusett Drive, with one edge 13 feet from lot line instead of the requieed 15 feet side yard and 18 feet instead of the required 30 feet front yard. Hideo Sasaki for variance in the zoning regulations to construct a garage at the existing dwelling located at 17 Barberry Road, with a side yard of 12 feet instead of the required 15 feet. ' Almarjo Realty Trust (Arthur Douglass) for special permit to erect and maintain a free standing sign to be located in front of the building at 51 Worthen Road. Anthony R. Cataldo (Gold Ribbon Farms) for permission to continue to process, warehouse and sell fresh fruits and vegetables at 125 Massachusetts Avenue. Aclmarjo Realty Trust for variance to reduce the number of parking spaces for the funeral home at 51 Worthen Road from 54 spaces to 40. At the close of the hearings, an executive session was held during which the following decisions were reached: Lexington Trust Company - granted. Myer and Ida Herman - granted. Hideo Sasaki - granted - Side yard of 12 ft. and no overhang shall impinge. Almarjo Realty Trust - granted permission to erect a sign no greater than 2' x 4'6" outside dimensions and 4' 4 1/4" approximate height and located in the center of lot with a setback from the street line of 30 ft. The sign shall be illuminated by floodlight and not internally. ' Anthony R. Cataldo - granted with the condition that sufficiently high screening shall be installed at the rear and the concrete blocks be painted by October 31, 1969. Almarjo Realty Trust - granted. Variance to reduce parking spaces. July 22, 1969 -2 ' Charles H. Cole II (petition heard on July 1, 1969) -granted a permit to build a house on Lots B-1 and B-2 on Franklin Road, containing 14,490 sq. ft. of land instead of the required 15,500 sq. ft. with a sufficient frontage, to be built by Charles H. Cole II and construction to start within a period of one year. Middlesex Tennis and Swim Club (deferred 90 days at hearing heard on June 24, 1969) - granted permit for a sign to be located on the existing fence instead of the free standing sign requested.
