April 4, 1967
A regular meeting of the Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday,
April 4, 1967 in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building. Present
were Chairman Nickerson and regular members Abbott, Dawes, Sheldon and
Wadsworth; also the secretary, Mrs. Macomber. The hearings were called
to order at 7:30 p.m. as follows:
E. L. Sharkey - for permission to continue the use, and extend for
two years beginning March 30, 1967, of the premises known as Lot ill, 16
Hazel Rd., Lexington, as the site of microwave transmitting equipment, in-
cluding specifically a long-range calibration unit.
Dr. William C. Graham - to vary the sign by-law in order to main-
tain present sign in front of office at 21-A Muzzey St.
Ella Brehm - to vary the sign by-law in order to erect a free standing
sign, 2 ft. x 1-1/2 ft., on aluminum post to be used for directional pur-
poses. The address of the property involved is 1640-44 Mass. Ave, and 1
Wallis Court.
Adams Pool Corp., Sumner J. Foster Pres. - for approval for the
building ofca neighborhood pool for recreational purposes at 316 Emerson
Road.
' Frederick F. Bird - to vary the Zoning Bp -Law in order to build an
extension to present house at 2685 Mass. Ave. which would be 14.2 ft. from
the side line instead of the required 20 ft.
Todd Realty, Inc. - permission to subdivide a parcel of land oon-
taining 12.8 acres, more or less, located next to 157 East St., into
lots of not less than 20,000 sq.ft. and having a frontage of not less
than 120 ft. (cluster zoning), each in accordance with Sec.8(a)2.f. of
the Lexington Zoning By -Law, all as shown on a plan entitled "Saddle Club
Estates, Section III, dated March 1, 1967, made by Wilbur C. Nylander and
Albert A. Miller, C.E.'s.
Vinebrook Swim Corporation - for permission to use Parcel "A"
located at the rear of 157 East Street for the building of a neighborhood
pool for recreational purposes, which parcel is shown on a plan entitled
"Saddle Club Estates, Section III,' dated March 1, 1967, Wilbur C. Nylander
and Albert A. Miller, C.E.'s, which parcel does not have the required
frontage and therefore requires a variance.
Following the hearings an executive session was held during which
the following decisions were made:
E. L. Sharkey - granted for 2 years.
Dr. William C. Graham - granted for 2 years.
' Ella Brehm - granted with the condition that the sign shall extend
over a fence and not project over the sidewalk.
Adams Pool Corp. - granted
Frederick F. Bird - granted for 18 ft. instead of the 14.2 requested.
