October 4, 1966
A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was
held on Tuesday, October 4, 1966 in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office
Building. Present were Chairman Nickerson, regular members Foyt,
Sheldon and Wadsworth, and associate members Dawes. Also present was
the secretary, Mrs. Macomber. At 7:30 p.m. the following hearings were
called to order:
William and Iris Poward - permission to continue to operate
kindergarten of two sessions from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 11:30
a.m. to 2:30 p.m, in their home at 15 Ewell Ave., Lexington.
Patricia MacDonald - permission to continue operation of a day
care center at her home, 540 Massachusetts Ave., Monday through Friday,
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for not more than ten children.
Mal's Servicenter (Mal felt ikian) - to continue the use of operat-
ing, a general automobile repair shop and for storage of cars at 7 Massa-
chusetts Ave., Lexington, which is in a C 2 district.
Mystic Valley Mental_ Health Association, Inc. - for permission
to install an exterior iron fire escape on the three-stery building at
186 Bedford St. to provide a second exit from the third floor, required
by safety regulations to permit use of the third floor for offices and
' consultation rooms, in accordance with the Board of Appeals Permit dated
February 1, 1966.
Cecil and Maw A. Splaine - requested to vary the Lexington Zoning
a
By -Law in order to create buildable lot, numbered Lot 163 Webster Rd.,
which has 125 ft. frontage instead of the required 150 ft, and 11,362 sq.
ft. area instead of the required 30,000 sq.ft., due to a State taking.
Donna Realty Trust (Frank Compagnone) - to vary the Lexington
Zoning by -Law in order to erect a single family dwelling at 65 Blake Rd.
which would have a frontage of 75 ft. and an area of 10,660 sq.ft.
At the close of the hearings an executive session was held during
which the following decisions were reached:
William and Iris Howard - granted
Patricia MacDonald - granted
Mal's Servicenter - granted
Mystic Valley Mental Health Assn.,Inc. - denied
Cecil and Mary A. Splaine - denied
Donna Realty trust - denied
